About ORCBA's Pre-Pointe Camp and Pointe Intensive:

This is the third year ORCBA is hosting a pre-pointe camp and point intensive. The camp is intended for dancers who will be entering pointe (or are planning on pursuing pointe) in the next two years; also, en pointe dancers who have just earned their pointe shoes and/or are wanting a refresher course in basics and core work will benefit from this camp. Dancers must have an intermediate to advanced understanding of ballet technique.

Campers will study ballet history, nutrition, costuming, choreography, and pedagogy in addition to their daily core, technique, basics, and strengthening classes. Campers will make a costume to wear in a short recital to be presented on Friday where they will perform the choreography they learned during class.

Campers should bring their own lunch each day; this should be a nutritious lunch with lots of protein and simple sugars (no soft drinks or starches). Snacks and water will be provided.

The camp is July 18 through July 22, 2011, at the Dance Centre of Oak Ridge. (For directions, click here.) Camp hours are 10:00AM until 3:00PM. Guest housing is available for campers who do not live in the immediate area.

The cost of the camp is $125.00 per camper and covers all costume making supplies and a t-shirt.

Payment is due when you register for camp; if you do not pay when you register, then we may start releasing the non-paid slots when we start getting full. You may pay by check (mailed to ORCBA PPC c/o Glenn Arnold, 6628 Trousdale Road, Knoxville, TN 37921) or online using Paypal, credit card, or virtual check.

If you have specific questions, please e-mail the Camp Coordinator, Glenn Arnold, at garnold@orcba.org, or call him at 865-898-4637.
