​Michelle Carr has been teaching ballet in Knoxville for 11 years at Studio Arts for Dancers. She has staged & choreographed original pieces for Go! Contemporary Dance Company & is an occasional guest artist. Michelle moved to TN from Vail where she taught & choreographed for 4 years for Vail Valley Academy of Dance & assisted the director of Vail Valley Youth Ballet Company.  Prior to Colorado, Michelle taught & danced for Savannah Dansé Theatre, in Savannah for 4 years.  She was a member of the corps de ballet & performed as a soloist & principal dancer. Michelle was also a member of Columbia County Ballet & performed with corps de ballet, principal, & soloist roles in Augusta, Georgia. 

The majority of Michelle's training was under Ron Jones of the Columbia County Ballet, former principal male dancer for Atlanta Ballet, Pittsburgh Ballet, and Augusta Ballet.  Michelle participated in SERBA as a young dancer & had instructors such as Ron Colton & Zanne Beaufort of Augusta Ballet, Helen Starr of Louisville Ballet, Mary Gieger of Geiger Elite, Carol Krajacic Erkes of Florida Dance Theatre, Andrew Kuharsky of Greenville Ballet, as well as multiple SERBA choreography award recipients. She has trained in a variety of ballet techniques such as Cecchetti, Vagonava, and RAD. 

Michelle has performed in corps de ballet, principal, & supporting roles in original ballets, contemporary pieces, & classical story ballets including Swan Lake, Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, and Coppélia to mention a few. Michelle has been a guest teacher for Columbia County Ballet for a summer intensive and was invited to participate in the outreach program at Free People Movement. 

Michelle has her degree from The Medical College of Georgia in Occupational Therapy & is currently working as a hand therapist at OrthoTennessee.  She also works as a franchise photographer and enjoys photographing her passion for dance.
